Alex Lagowitz '11 Recruiting Profile

Welcome, my name is Alex Lagowitz, a golfer from Livingston, NJ. I am a 5'11 155 lbs and will graduate with the class of 2011. I have 6 years experience playing golf recreationally and 3 years of tournament golf. As a junior, I was captain of the varsity team, setting the school record scoring average, recognized as the number one player on my team and in my conference. I received first team all conference and all county honors, while also receiving Second team all Group IV honors. I lead the team to its first ever Tournament of Champions appearance and final ranking of 12th in New Jersey. My handicap index is a +0.9. Following a successful high school season, I injured my foot in June of 2010, requiring surgery and long recovery period. My scores for the first half of the summer were higher than normal, due to rehabilitation and difficulties dealing with pain. At the end of the summer, I finished strong by placing 2nd in the NJPGA Junior Invitational Match Play tournament. Golf has recently become one of my passions and I have made it a target to play golf at the collegiate level. Before golf, I was a nationally ranked snowboarder, competing in over 25 international events and rising to be ranked 8th in the country at the age of 14. In terms of size of school, location and level of competition, I am open to all colleges offering a spot to play golf competitively on their team. Academics are very important to me, therefore the level of education will have a large impact on my decision of where I would like to go. I am very interested in playing golf at highly selective academic schools. As a member of your golf team, I can provide persistent dedication, hard work, and leadership. As an underclassmen on my high school golf team, I lead the team as the number one player, and continued to do so my junior year. Realistically, I would like to play any level of collegiate golf and provide my skills for whatever the coach may need.
