Personal Statement

My name is Grant Boudreau and I am currently a senior at Bishop Leblond High School in Saint Joseph, Missouri.  I have been playing golf all of my life, casually, until freshman year when I was able to play on the high school varsity golf team. Freshman year my golf score was generally in the low to mid 90's and this last summer before my senior year my scores were in the low to mid 70's. I have continued to improve my performance over the last couple of years and plan to continue in my efforts to advance in skill and mental toughness for the game.  Since my performance level was not competitive enough until last year,  I do not have a resume with large  amounts of big tournament wins like other junior players. I have had quite a lesson in overcoming hardship and growing in strength of character and perseverance during my years in high school.  It started with a concussion my freshman year in football, a broken collar bone my sophomore year in football, and climaxed with the sudden death of my father during the second half of my sophomore year.  I was a three sport athlete until junior year when I was medically advised to avoid playing competitive basketball after my heart condition was discovered.  My cardiologist has encouraged my continued play of golf and also cleared me for my senior football season, which was just recently completed.  I have started working on golf for the spring with my swing coach, as well as with days of play when weather permits.  It is an unfortunate disadvantage living in the North and being subject to months of no play due to winter weather.  I do look forward to living in an area in which warm weather allows for continuous play.  I am very determined and hard working in my golf goals and have every intention of advancing toward them.  I have a very coach able attitude and truly welcome instruction in order to gain consistency in high level play. Thank you for viewing my profile and allowing me an opportunity to be a part of your golf team.

  • I didn't play too well, but for the conditions we played in my 77s both days were solid rounds. Both days it was a high of 45 degrees and it was a constant downpour. The course was flooded and there was standing water everywhere, but you couldn't take relief because you wouldn't be able to find dry ground. We were the only class that played a 2-day tournament. The other classes all canceled their second day because the weather was too bad. I finished tied for 7th out of around 100 kids and also earned all-conference honors. Our team also won state (by 46 strokes, shooting: 304+298=602), so all in all it was a great experience, even with the terrible weather.
  • Camp/Event
  • Maryville Tournament
  • 4/27/16 to 4/27/16
  • I shot 70 and placed 1/65 in off and on rain. I should've gone lower if it weren't for dumb mistakes. I had a three putt from 15 feet on hole 9. Little things like that I need to work on more and up my focus for those type of situations. The greens weren't rolling very well due to heavy rain the night before, but I Just struggled with the putter. My birdies that I made were inside of 4 feet and I had a couple inside 10 but I just couldn't convert. All in all, it was good day.
  • Camp/Event
  • LeBlond Invitational
  • 4/25/16 to 4/25/16
  • I shot 75 and finished 2/over 60 kids. I had about 5 3-putts and missed a lot of short birdie attempts. finished +3 through my last 3 holes so I'm a little disappointed about this round. I missed medalist honors by 1 stroke too.
  • Camp/Event
  • Richmond tournament
  • 4/22/16 to 4/22/16
  • I shot +1 73 finishing 3/80. This was a big class 5 and 6 tournament and we are only class 2. We also won the tournament as a team!
  • Camp/Event
  • MEC Conference Tournament
  • 4/18/16 to 4/18/16
  • I shot +4 76 and placed 4/about 60. The conditions were really hard. It was very windy and rained for my last 13 holes. I earned All-Conference as well.
  • Camp/Event
  • LSU Golf Camp
  • 6/06/15 to 6/09/15
  • Worked with the coaches and players of the LSU men's golf team, defending National Champions!
  • Camp/Event
  • 2015 Class 2 District Tournament
  • 5/04/15 to 5/04/15
  • Individual District Champion - 74
