My name is Peyton Needy, I am in the graduating class of 2016 from Green Ridge, Missouri. Golf is my passion, I hope to play it at the collegiate level so that I can improve my game to its full potential. This is my dream and I intend to chase it.
My freshman year was my first year ever picking up a club. By the end of the season I got all-conference honorable mention. I also made the cut at districts and missed the state cut by only 2 strokes. My season average was a 44.7. That summer I practiced a lot to get better for the upcoming season.
The practice paid off for my sophomore year. I individually won the conference tournament with my team placing second. I placed third at districts and fourth at sectional to get to the state tournament. While at the state tournament I put up scores of 76 on the first day and 83 on the second. On the second day I played the first 11 holes 11 over par and played the rest of the round even to finish in 6th place overall. My team also placed 6th. I had a stroke average of 39.4. That year I got all-conference, all-districts, and all-state.
My junior year was also a success. I finished second for the conference tournament for another all-conference. I was the individual winner of districts (74 or 2 over) and sectionals (77 or 5 over) getting me another all-district medal. The first day of state, I got the shanks, this led to my worst recorded in the last two seasons with a 91. Determined to redeem myself I worked on the range that night and came back to shoot the second lowest round of the day (77 or 5 over). Due to the tough conditions I was one of the 3 players to even brake 80 the second day, those two got first and second. That finish put me into 13th place overall and getting me another all-state. My stroke average was a 37.6.
Academics have never been a problem. My cumulative gpa is about 3.8, with weighted classes it is boosted up to about a 4.1. I have a 23 on the act and plan to study and take it again to improve on my last score. I have been a high honor roll student all through high school and have been a member of the National Honor Society for 2 years. I am our class President and recently attended Missouri Boys State in June.
As you can see, I have made a lot of improvement in a very short amount of time. I am going to continue to work hard and dedicate my time to the sport so that I can perform at the highest level of competition possible. I am a very friendly and outgoing kid. I dream to play college golf and I cannot wait to see where I end up in the years to come.
