My name is Brendan Baldwin, my hometown is St. Adolphe, MB Canada. I am 6'2" and 200 lbs. I am passionate about the game of golf and determined to play at the college level. Playing at the college level has been a dream of mine since i was a little boy, i have been playing since i could walk. Chasing Grandpa and Dad down the fairway with my putter and a ball at age 3. I played in my first tournament when i was 7 and have been playing competitive ever since. I love the game more than anything but besides golf I enjoy hockey, snowboarding, and am a Hockey Linesman at the AAA hockey level and a Referee at the AA level for Hockey Canada.
I believe I have the leadership, dedication and motivation to be a valuable addition to a college golf team. I have been the captain of the St. Norbert Celtic high school golf team for 4 years. I practice for an hour and a half at least 4 times a week. In addition to playing golf I also played high school basketball and hockey and have great team experience.
Some of my main characteristics include, Leadership, Dedication, Motivation, Community Involvement and Self-discipline.
My most important accomplishments include, I have been awarded a Leadership award in Grades 8,9,10, and 11. In the 2011-2012 High school Golf tournament season I won the divisional tournament and went to provincial finals. I was captain of the St. Norbert Celtics high school golf team in grades 9,10,11, and 12. I have placed 2nd and 3rd multiple times on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour and Golf Manitoba junior events, more often than not place in the top 10, and for 3 consecutive years I qualified to participate in the MJT National Championships. I also have qualified for the Manitoba Amateur Golf Championships, since I was 14 years old, in the last 2 years I made the cut to play in the final 2 rounds. In 2011 I received the Most Promising Official award from Hockey Canada.
Because I grew up in a small rural community I would prefer to go to a smaller size school that is in a rural location, but am open to different types of schools as long as they are geographically located in an area that has a considerably longer golf season than what we have back home in Manitoba, Canada were we experience up to 6 months of winter. I am interested in Business Management. Upon graduation I hope to pursue a career that includes both golf and business management.
I would realistically like to play college golf as a freshmen, in a division that suits my ability in golf and my academic standard. In addition to continuing my education, my goal in golf is to improve my playing ability to become the best asset I can possibly be in the team environment, like I did in high school and enjoyed so much.
