Personal Statement
Selected as Junior Captain of Tandragee Golf Club, in the year that we qualified to represent Ireland in the European U18 Golf Championships in Spain, has been the highlight of my golfing career to date. I am honoured that the membership valued my previous leadership skills displayed as I captained the Ulster field hockey team at Interprovincial level and represented Ireland at an international level. They recognised I would apply the same level of professionalism, enthusiasm and motivation to leading the golf juniors. My desire to succeed in this sport is such that I turned down a position on the Ireland U18 hockey squad this year to pursue a career in golf, having already had a top 10 and three top 5 finishes in regional junior championships.
Not only do I enjoy personally competing but also I find it extremely rewarding to share my skills and passions through voluntary juvenile coaching in golf and hockey. Both require a strong work ethic to ensure success and have taught me the value of teamwork and commitment. This got rewarded as I was selected as deputy head boy for Banbridge academy, my current high school. I feel I have the athletic and academic ability to make a significant contribution to the life of your college and would relish the opportunity to meet my full potential under your expert guidance.
