Personal Statement

I am a good candidate for any program in the country because I truly love everything about the game of golf.

The first thing I love about golf is the competition.  Not only the competition against other competitors, but the competition against my teammates to make them and myself better.  I love the whole atmosphere of team golf and I truly enjoy being apart of a team.  They way we will practice together to make ourselves better will be a truly great experience.  I love the uniforms, the friendships, the traveling, early workouts, and the pressure of a tournament coming down the stretch.  The pressure of these moments are my favorite part of the whole golf experience.  I love having the team resting on my back during a tournament hoping I make a putt coming down the stretch.  As a freshman, I had a putt on 18 to tie the number 3 team in the state with the competing teams surrounding the green.  I was lucky enough to make this putt and contribute to our team making it to Regionals for the first time in 5 years.

Finally, I want a chance to wear a college uniform that I am proud of.  I want the chance to be a part of a family that will last out of college and throughout the rest of my life.  On the team I commit to, I want to understand the processes of winning and ultimately have the ability to improve day by day.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • AJGA Junior at Forest Lake presented by Tom Holzer Ford

  • Camp/Event
  • United States Junior Am
  • 7/17/17 to 7/22/17
  • Went 76(+5)-76(+5) and finished in T90 out of 150 in the US Junior Am. Played 31 holes -1 this week, but just a couple of swings put me in trouble which made me make big numbers.
  • Camp/Event
  • Indiana Junior PGA Championship
  • 7/12/17 to 7/13/17
  • I shot 69(-3)-72(E) to finish in solo 2nd out of 145 players.
  • Camp/Event
  • AJGA Coca Cola Junior Championship at Boyne Highlands
  • 7/03/17 to 7/06/17
  • At the Heathers Course at Boyne Highlands Resort I shot 78(+6) the first day, then followed that up with the low round of the day 69(-3), which then led me to finish with a final round of 75(+3) to finish T6 out of 108 kids in the field.
  • Camp/Event
  • Indiana Boys State Junior Championship
  • 6/27/17 to 7/01/17
  • The format for this tournament is 2 days of stroke play, then a cut from 111 players to 64 players. After the cut, there will be match play matches and once you lose you are done. I shot 72(E)-83(+11) in the stroke play rounds and I made the cut. I won my first match play match 1 Up and then lost in the second round on the 18th hole. I was 2 down with 5 holes to play and I got the match back to even with 3 holes to play but just couldn't get it done on the last hole.
  • Camp/Event
  • USGA Junior Am Qualifier
  • 6/19/17 to 6/19/17
  • Shot 70(-1) and won the qualifier in a playoff to move on to the US Junior AM in July.
  • Camp/Event
  • Boys State Junior Qualifier
  • 6/15/17 to 6/15/17
  • Shot 76(+4) and qualified for the Boys State Junior.

  • I shot 79 with a rough finish to advance to regionals as an individual by 2 shots.
  • Camp/Event
  • Hurricane Junior Golf Tour Innisbrook Junior Classic
  • 11/12/16 to 11/13/16
  • Shot 73(+2)-76(+5) in a 51 played field and finished T6. Played well both days but had some small hiccups that prevented me from bringing home the W. The player field had a lot of players from out of the country and was pretty strong.
  • Camp/Event
  • Golfweek Junior Tour Event
  • 10/01/16 to 10/02/16
  • Shot 73(+1)-73(+1) from 6700 yards and came in a tie for 6th out of 34.
  • Camp/Event
  • Golfweek Junior Tour Event
  • 9/24/16 to 9/25/16
  • Shot 75(+3)-77(+5) from 7032 yards and came in 17th out of 81.
  • Camp/Event
  • AJGA Junior at Cattail Creek -- Qualifier
  • 7/31/16 to 7/31/16
  • I shot 71 (-1) and tied for 7th out of a field of 84 at Rattlewood Golf Course (6,329 yards, M-70.6/129). I shot a career low 32 on the back 9 and played in a 9 person playoff for the last 5 tournament spots. I birdied the first playoff hole to secure my position.
  • Camp/Event
  • AJGA City of London Junior Championship Qualifier
  • 7/24/16 to 7/24/16
  • I shot 73 (+1) and tied for 12th out of a field of 81 at Crooked Creek Golf Club (6,755yds, M-72.9/134). I would have qualified for the tournament but didn't declare entry due to a family vacation.
  • Camp/Event
  • USGA Junior Am Qualifier
  • 6/28/16 to 6/29/16
  • Bloomington Country Club is 6,545 yds (M-72.8/135) but demands accuracy off the tee and has severely sloped greens. I shot 76(+4) then 75(+3) in this qualifier and tied for 21st.
  • Camp/Event
  • Indiana Golf Association Central Junior Masters
  • 6/19/16 to 6/20/16
  • This tournament I shot 71 (E) in round 1 to take a 1 shot lead over a field of 50 then shot 77 (+6) to finish in second place for the tournament. Overall, on this course, (6,571 yds., M-72/131) ball placement was important and the greens were hard and firm.
  • Camp/Event
  • Natural Resource Partners Bluegrass Junior Hosted by J.B. Holmes (AJGA Event)
  • 6/13/16 to 6/16/16
  • Shot 73 (+3) in the AJGA qualifier to gain entry into the event at a short, but very difficult course. (5,924 yds. M-68.3/124) Shot 75 (+5) in round 1, and then 83 (+13) to miss the cut. Even though I missed the cut because of a poor second round, it was still a great learning experience to play in this big tournament, with a strong field, on a difficult golf course.
  • Camp/Event
  • IHSAA Sectional Tournament
  • 6/06/16 to 6/06/16
  • In Sectionals I shot 75 (+3) and got through sectionals as an individual. We were playing about 6,800 yards in windy conditions.
  • Camp/Event
  • Peru Invitational
  • 5/21/16 to 5/21/16
  • At the tough Rock Hollow Golf Course, I shot 75 and won the individual medal and led our team to shooting 311 and winning the team medal. We played from 6,500 yards but it was extremely wet. The golf course was extremely difficult with narrow holes with lots of trouble.
  • Camp/Event
  • Lake Central Invite
  • 4/23/16 to 4/23/16
  • Sandy Pines is a very difficult course in Northern Indiana that plays 6,800 yards and I shot 78.
  • Camp/Event
  • Highland Invite
  • 4/16/16 to 4/16/16
  • Highland Country Club is a relatively short course (6,600 yards) but is very narrow. Conditions of the course were great and I shot 77 and tied for 5th individually.
  • Camp/Event
  • Golfweek Junior Tour Event
  • 1/17/16 to 1/18/16
