I aspire to play collegiate golf at a high level and am working hard to achieve this goal. I strive to continually improve all aspects of my golf game. I am working with a coach to further develop all aspects of my golf skill set. My weeks are well scheduled to optimize the time spent on improving my golf. While I continue to work on all aspects of the game, my current focus includes three main areas: swing mechanics, mental game and golf-specific fitness training. My main focus is short game, but I also continue to practice on the range in addition to a regular playing schedule. I am currently reading a series of books on the mental aspects of golf, have ongoing related sessions with my coach, and discuss sports psychology with other competitive athletes. This is a continual process and I have developed some positive routines in the past several months. My fitness program is based on the Titliest Performance Institute program. Through my coach, I have had a comprehensive fitness evaluation and have developed a personalized program based on this evaluation. My program involves regular daily strength and conditioning, as well as exercises to improve flexibility. I have been participating in this program for more than 6 months, so it is now sustainable and part of my routine.
Golf is one of a multitude of sports I could have chosen for my time and energy. I have always loved my involvement with golf. I started golfing at the age of three with just a putter and a 7-iron. I associate golf with good times with my family, as these early rounds were with my brother, parents, and grandparents. I still enjoy these family golf outings. For me, golf is more than a game. Through my golf experience, I feel I am able to live with good principles; to demonstrate honesty, integrity, commitment and the value of hard work. I feel I use this as a strong foundation to further develop these principles, in golf, and in other aspects of my life. The game of golf has helped me develop as a person. I have had a strong high school golf career. I have been on the Varsity team since my Freshman year and am currently ranked first for my high school. I currently hold the school record for the lowest 9-hole round. My score, a 6-under 30 in a match, beat the long-standing record of 32 that was shared by 4 golfers. This season I also finished runner-up in conference and runner-up in sectionals with a 1-under 71.
I am a dedicated golfer with a good base and a good work ethic. I thrive in a competitive environment and am a good team player. My golf interests also include golf course design and related environmental issues. I have a wide variety of interests and overall am a good student. I look forward to opportunities in golf at the collegiate level.
