Personal Statement

~~I am a student athlete.  I have focused on exceeding in both my entire life.  Dedication, determination and consistency make me a good candidate for your golf program.

Academically -(all classes have been honors or AP) in elementary school I never made anything below an A.  I was accepted in the Duke TIP program.  During middle school I again never made below an A and was awarded the "Soaring Falcon Award" which was given to only 3 students in each grade level.  This award was voted on by the faculty and was representative of academics, character and sportsmanship.  So far in high school I have unfortunately made my first and only B.  I have just recently been accepted into the National Honor Society.  I strive to continue this success throughout the remainder of my high school career and beyond.

Athletically - through elementary school I played all of the major sports.  During middle school I focused on cross country and started playing the trumpet and drums.  My freshman year in high school I lettered on the state runner up cross country team.  During the winter of my freshman year I started playing golf and made the high school team.  During my sophomore year I chose to focus solely on golf and played the 1 or 2 position the entire season.  Our team made it to State!

Golf is now my passion!  This summer I enjoyed my first season in the Atlanta Junior Golf Association.  I was successful in placing in each tournament I participated and was invited to play in the Atlanta Junior Golf Association Grand Championship.  I have only played golf seriously for 2 years.  I have improved from high 90's to 70's.  I plan to continue working hard to lower my scores.

I work each day on both academics and golf, giving both the needed attention to continue to further my education and expand my golf skills.

My goal is to get a good college education and continue improving my skills in the best of all sports - golf.

  • 10/10/15 to 10/11/15
  • It rained hard for a few days before the tournament so there was casual water everywhere. Fairways were soft and the course was playing long. We played the back tees and the greens had water on them which made the speeds very inconsistent. I had quite a few three putts because of inconsistent green speeds but I hit the ball good. I hit every fairway on the first nine on the first day. I hit 12 greens and got up and down a few times. The issue was the speed control on the greens. I shot 4 over the first day. I knew I had to shoot even on the second day to win. I was 1 over going into the last hole after lipping out for birdie on 17. I was going at the pin and drew it into a bunker pin high where the ball plugged. I managed to save bogey to shoot 2 over and tie for 4th, 2 shots off the lead.
  • Camp/Event
  • College Prep Series at UGA
  • 7/18/15 to 7/19/15
  • The course played at about 6,779 yards. On the first day I struggled with trusting my draw and shot 6 over on the front. I figured it out and shot even on the back. The next day I shot 3 over on the front and 1 under on the back. I started trusting the shots I was trying to hit and played a lot better after the first nine. I ended up T5 but had the most birdies out of all 45 people in the field. I had 7 birdies in all.
  • Camp/Event
  • UGA Junior Classic
  • 7/07/15 to 7/08/15
  • On the first day of the tournament I had a slow start on the front nine but shot even on the back to shoot a 75 to be in 4th place. On the second day I shot even on the front but ended up shooting a 74 to tie for 2nd. The tournament was run by the Georgia Junior PGA and had 39 people in my age group.
  • Camp/Event
  • Royal Lakes Jr Open Hurricane Tour
  • 6/27/15 to 6/28/15
  • On the first day of the tournament we had a 1 hour rain delay when I was on the third tee. It poured rain and the course was extremely wet and we had to play the ball down since we had already started. But I ended up shooting a 75 to be in a tie for first. I went 39 36 on a par 72 course. The second day I had a good front nine 36 but had trouble after that and ended up shooting a 78 to finish tied for 2nd. The tournament was put on by the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour and there were a lot of good golfers there.
  • Camp/Event
  • Hall County Championship
  • 3/09/15 to 3/10/15
  • On the first day of the tournament I shot a round of even par 36 with a birdie on the 3rd hole par 5, a bogey on a bad first putt on 4, and a short missed birdie on the par 4 6th hole. After the first day I was tied for 2nd. The second day I shot a 3 over 39 with a dumb mistake on the par 5 11th hole by hitting a ball short in the water but followed it with a tap in birdie on 12. A bogey on 13 put me back to 3 over but I followed it up with a tap in birdie on the par 3 14th hole. I had a bogey on the 16th because of an extremely hard pin location on 16 that caused A LOT of 3 puts that day. I finished 3rd over all and my team took 2nd.
  • Camp/Event
  • Apple Mountain Invitational
  • 3/07/15 to 3/07/15
  • I shot a 78 with my bogeys coming from putting because the practice green was closed because of frost. I hit a good amount of fairways and greens but struggled on the speed of the greens. I had a lot of long par putts and I saved par a lot.
  • Camp/Event
  • Royal Lakes Club Championship
  • 10/17/14 to 10/19/14
  • I shot an 82 on the first day going 45 37. On the second day I shot a 78 going 42 36. On the final day I shot a 75 with a 34 on the front and a 41 on the back. This was the third best score of the day and I placed 6th.
  • Camp/Event
  • Atlanta Junior Golf
  • 9/27/14 to 9/28/14
  • I had my best front nine ever - 35. Sorry to say I struggled from there, finishing the first round with a 79 and the second round with an 84. I finished tied for 9th out of 40 golfers.
  • Camp/Event
  • Atlanta Junior Golf Grand Championship
  • 7/29/14 to 7/31/14
  • Hardest course I have played in a tournament. Started off with an 86 on the first round. I improved each round, 83 and ended with an 80. Tied for 24th out of 41 golfers.
  • Camp/Event
  • Atlanta Junior Golf
  • 7/22/14 to 7/22/14
  • Weather was very bad, hard rain my entire back nine. I shot 36 on the front, rains came and I shot a 42 on the back. I took 6th place.
  • Camp/Event
  • Atlanta Junior Golf
  • 7/14/14 to 7/14/14
  • I took second place shooting a 78.
  • Camp/Event
  • Atlanta Junior Golf
  • 7/09/14 to 7/09/14
  • I shot an 80, tied for 7th
  • Camp/Event
  • Atlanta Junior Golf
  • 7/08/14 to 7/08/14
  • I won first place. I shot a 74.
  • Camp/Event
  • Atlanta Junior Golf
