I am the only son to the parents of John and Nancy. However, I am the big brother to three little sisters the closest being 9 years younger than me. I guess you would say that I’ve changed my fair share of diapers and been the big brother for a while. I first picked up a golf club when I was two and started going with my dad to the course when he was in his residency program. I remember being able to run down the fairway hitting my golf ball and then waiting for my dad to tell me to get back in the cart. Since that time, I have always loved golf. It first started as just another trip to the course with my dad but has developed over many years to now having my mom and all my family getting involved in this game.
Don’t get me wrong, I played other sports too including Basketball and soccer but golf has always been my favorite sport. Fortunately, my family has always been able to provide me with a great education and supported me with my career goals. It’s also nice to have them be supportive but not overbearing like many others I play with or against. I think that my temperament comes equally from both of my parents and reward me on the course. I tend to stay calm under pressure and not lose my cool.
When deciding what I want the future to hold, I can only imagine continuing my education in college. Of course its two years away but that time will fly by if I’m not paying attention. I really don’t know what I want to be or study but I’m sure over time God will show me his plan for my life. Having parents that are both in medicine sure has made it simple to not want to do that career. Well maybe, but I doubt it.
I feel confident that hard work is the key to success. I realize the importance of a good education and the doors that are opened when you make the right choices. I pride myself in being a good student, staying out of trouble, a role model for others to look up to including my three sisters. I was happy to have made it two years in a row to the state golf finals for Florida. I look forward to the next two years and what they will bring. I want to be someone who people are proud of and give back to my community after college. My desire is to getting a college degree and make my parents proud. Who knows, I might even get to play some competitive golf along the way.
