My name is Stephen Thomasson and I am 17 years old. I live in Brandon, FL and have been passionate about playing golf since I was a little kid around 6 years old. Golf has been a huge part of my life ever since I was old enough to hold a club. I currently compete in the Greater Tampa Junior Tour, Premier Junior Tour, and for Brandon High School which competes in Division 3A. I have competed in many events and have multiple top tens and one victory to my name. I won the Harris Armstrong Memorial Match Play event on the Greater Tampa Junior Tour in May 2015. I have grown as a player immensely in the past few years with my course management and mental toughness. I consider course management to be one of my biggest strengths. Last year competing for Brandon High School I advanced to Regionals as an individual and was the number one player on our team. My low nine last season was a 36 in a high school match at Buckhorn Springs Country Club.
In addition to my love for golf, I have always taken pride in my academics and currently have a 3.7 GPA. I am dual enrolled at Hillsborough Community College to expand my education which is also allowing me to earn credits toward my college endeavor. I am still undecided on a major but am looking forward to all of the opportunities that college will offer.
I also enjoy volunteering my time with sports. I am currently in my third year of coaching my sister’s flag football team and I also serve as assistant coach for her middle school golf team. . In addition to golf, I play wide receiver on my high school football team and was a team captain last year. I was also awarded Offensive Player of the Year. I currently am working out in the gym 3 days a week with a professional trainer and am grinding in preparation for my next season in golf as well as my current tournament schedule.
I am continuously striving to better my game and I am excited about all of the possibilities college golf could offer me. I am a hard worker and will do my very best in the classroom as well as on the course. I believe character and integrity are vital to success in golf as well as in life, and I will strive to display these attributes on a daily basis. My work ethic is unrivaled and I will do whatever it takes to be the best player that I can be.
