John Hulede '13 Recruiting Profile

My name is John Hulede. I am a golfer from Mitchellville, MD. I currently attend Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C. I have three years of high school competition which includes junior varsity my freshman year and varsity my sophmore and junior year. I received honorable mention in our conference my sophmore year and second team all WCAC my junior year. We had a record of 9-0 my sophmore year and won both conference championships. I am a member of the First Tee and have done so since I was eight years old. I was invited to the Golf Channel Invitational for the First Tee in 2010, again in 2011. I was a member of Interclub with the First Tee in 2010. In the previous summer of 2011, I, along with five others, represented the First Tee at the Chuck Cohen Minority Invitational. I placed 2nd in this tournament with scores of 73-71. The tournament composed of 24 players which included 18 players who currently play golf for a college. Also in 2011, I won the Melwood High School Invitational shooting a 70 (par 71) which included 4 birdies on the last four holes. I took part in the 2012 IJGT Clifton Classic at Westfields Golf Course and placed solo sixth in a field of 44 players. I had a two day score of 152-78, 74. Also, I finished 8th in the maryland junior amateur out of 148 people shooting a two day total of 149- 70, 79. My biggest win to date is winning the 2012 WMGA Bubby Worsham Invitational by five shots shooting 71-68-68. The tournament field had players only ages 16-21 and I was the youngest winner at the age of 16. I feel that my determination will be a great addition to a college golf team. For example, I set a target score when preparing for a tournament and even if I place well in the tournament I won't be 100% satisfed unless I also reach my target score. I am looking for a college where I can find a great balance between academics and competitive athletics. Financial aid will be vital to me in the recruiting process as my family has high need since they are supporting multiple children through their education. My desired major is undecided. My athletic goal for college would be to make an outstanding impact on a team all four years of college.
