Personal Statement

I am very interested in competing for you next year. I currently play in  Junior Golf Association of Norther California (JGANC) tournaments and on my high school team.Unfortunately, I only began playing golf competitively just two and a half years ago, so I don’t have as much experience as I would like. That being said, in those two years I have improved from shooting  18 over par my freshman year to shooting averaging 8 over my junior year. My current tournament index is 4.0. I am currently in my senior year and I expect to continue to improve a great amount this upcoming year.

I  participate in many extracurricular activities at my school. I have been active in the leadership class for two years. I played football my freshman year, as well as basketball my freshman and sophomore year before I decided to concentrate on golf. Additionally, I have a part-time job at America’s Tire as a tire technician.

Over this past summer I played in 15 JGANC tournaments, and  I am currently ranked  29th in performance points for may age group in JGANC. I won one tournament (-7) and lost in a playoff in another to take second(-2). I have placed in the top ten  in six other tournaments.  Most aspects of my game have been achieved through practice without much coaching, although  I received one week of coaching from Coach Jeff Ritter, the head of Nike Golf Schools at the Nike advanced golf camp 2013.

I understand the commitment it takes to compete at the college level both academically and athletically as my father played football at Stanford on a full scholarship. He also coached at various levels prior to moving into school administration. Coming from such a competitive household I believe that not only will I strive to reach my full potential, I will also bring out the best in my team mates. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Sincerely,

Ryan Volta, High School Class of 2014

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
