My name is Jake Gebert and I am currently a junior attending D.C. Everest high school in Schofield, Wisconsin. On the court, I am able to perform as a small forward, power forward, and shooting guard, and I do not take bad shots. Last year, as a sophomore, I was able to shoot the ball at a 65% clip in a 6th man role for my varsity team and I averaged 6 points per game. Additionally, I am a proficient outside shooter. I display consistent, accurate, and quick shooting mechanics. Last year, this allowed me to shoot 50% from the 3 point line.
I believe my greatest attribute is my high basketball IQ. I am able to score against bigger and broader players because of my ability to find the open spot on the court and break down defenses. Also, I would like to note that I am a late developer in terms of size. I have gained 35-40 pounds and grown 3 inches in the past year, and I am still striving to become stronger each and every day. Since I want to compete at the college level, I have been spending a significant amount of time in the weight room and have been highly focused on bulking up my build.
My high school basketball coach puts an emphasis on academics and this has led our boys basketball team to be top 3 in the state in terms of team GPA in the last five years. Personally, I value both athletics and academics. I wish to attend a college that allows me to excel both in the gym and in the classroom.
