I am an athlete looking to continue my athletic and academic career at the collegiate level. I have realized that college is approaching fast, and a college education will lead to a satisfying career and increase the likelihood of a high quality life. I have also realized that I still want participate in high level, competitive basketball. Playing basketball has always been something I have loved.
The characteristics that have placed me in the position of Power Forward or similar positions has been my athleticism, my coachability, and desire to win. This desire is demonstrated in my work ethic. I embrace the type of training it takes to compete in high level athletic competition. I am well trained in the use of olympic lifts like Power Clean / Back Squat / Deadlift. I also work with resistance bands in my training. I use ladders for increased footwork and agility. In addition to this athletic training, 4 times a week I do a skills workout. During this workout, I refine and focus on proper techniques in basketball.
There are a lot of things I do outside the weight room and court. I am taking all honors classes and one AP class as a Freshman. When it comes to school, I work just as diligently as I do for basketball. Education is a very important tool that I utilize and improve at every moment.
In addition to my athletic and educational endeavors, I am also involved in community work. My church takes a group of members to work on others' homes. Light cosmetic construction is done at no cost to the owner. Our work will include painting, constructing ramps, or putting up drywall. I have been doing these domestic mission trips for 2 years and plan on continuing to do so whenever possible.
A college education costs a good amount a money, and I realize that. However, I also realize that there are scholarships and grants that are out there for me to obtain by using my athleticism as a bridge to get some of my education paid for. Playing basketball and using basketball to get scholarships for my education is my ultimate goal.
