Brandon Porter '16 Recruiting Profile

Ever since I first played basketball at 8 years old I was hooked.  Since then, its been my dream to play at the collegiate level. I am a junior in high school.  My determination and competitive nature grew from my dedication to basketball. Although I excel at all sports, basketball is my passion.  I have spent my years playing AAU and playing on a competitive travel basketball team playing in several NCAA Sanctioned Events and showcases. I earned Athlete of the Year award at my school where I work hard both on and off the court, especially in the classroom.  I was chosen to attend Natural Helpers Camp for my high school as a leader. I recently received the Presidential Academic Achievement Award for earning a 3.5 and higher and I am currently enrolled in honors classes. I am also a member of the National Honor Society. Due to my leadership qualities, I was chosen by my high school varsity coach to attend a Coaches and Captains Leadership workshop where I learned how to increase my leadership skills.  I was also voted 2nd team All Conference in the Big 9 by all of the coaches.

Basketball is my motivation, it keeps me focused and hungry to fulfill my potential.  I train 5-6 times a week and my strengths are leadership, rebounds, 3-pointers, speed, defense, passing, creative moves, and command of the court.  I would like to pursue a career in athletic directing for my major.  I would love to belong to a college where the team is like a family, and where I am challenged to become the person, and the player God intended me to be.
