Branden Nicks '16 Recruiting Profile

I am excited about all of the possibilities that are waiting for me as I begin my college career.  Basketball is definitely my heart and I've spent a lot of quality time developing my talent to the best of my ability yet I know there is so much more to look forward to.  I know that I have the physical and mental potential to be an NBA player but I also have a desire to be an educator or an attorney.  So, I will see where God leads me.  I enjoy spending time with and learning from kids and I know I could find new ways for them to enjoy learning.  History and Algebra II are my strongest subjects so teaching history or math in elementary or middle school would be fun.

I enjoy the whole idea of team sports.  The relationships that I have built over the years have helped me be a better person as well as a better player. As a team captain, I've learned to find ways to motivate even when I just wanted to criticize.  I have an intense drive to win but I know that its not all about me.  I want to play my role in making my team better and stronger.  I'm also a very strong scorer and defender.  I have worked hard to deliver at both ends of the floor.  I have a lot to offer any team.

I'm very different from other players because I always play with winning in mind.  While I love to score, I know that finding the best opportunity to score and making that basket is far better than blowing up my stats.  As I have watched college and professional games, I see that the team that executes the best wins.  It never matters if one player is hot, it takes the entire team working together efficiently.  I'm also a good student and I have mastered staying on top of my grades while putting my work time in at the gym.  I know that I'm mentally ready for the challenge of managing my sport as well as my academics in a college environment.
