I believe I would be a great addition to your team and school for the following reasons: First, I simply love all aspects of basketball including the speed of the game, the strategy, the commitment to conditioning and most importantly the teamwork required to be a great team. Second, you'll find that there is nobody on the court or in the gym that will outwork me. At team practices, I arrive early and am usually the last to leave. I push myself and my teammates to make our team better. Third, I place as much emphasis on my defensive skills as I do on ball handling and shooting skills. My observation is that strong defensive teams have a higher percentage of wins than those teams with only a strong offense. Fourth, I am unselfish on the court always putting a team win ahead of my own statistics. It's more important that my team perform well as a unit than for individual players to stray from our game plan in order to pad their personal statistics. Fifth, I understand the importance of my head coach and his assistants to the overall success of our team. I respect my coaches and have always done whatever I could to help them. I pay attention, follow their instructions and expect no less from my teammates. Sixth, I have high morals. Strength of character has always been emphasized within my family and by my school.
I believe in helping others within my community. As an example, in middle school, I was chosen to be a mentor to new students entering our school. I would show them around the school, introduce them to other students and make them feel as comfortable as possible in their new environment. I was also part of a student group that performed good work projects. One of the most rewarding projects, was when we sought donations of money, toys and supplies for the children's hospital within Carilion Hospital in my hometown of Roanoke, Virginia. Several carloads of toys and supplies, along with $600 in cash was delivered to the hospital. Finally, I approach academics in the same manner as I do basketball. I realize the importance of a great education and work very hard in school. I'm not a "straight A" student, but I give 100% effort and am always working to achieve the best grades possible. I respect my teachers and all those others that are there to provide me and my classmates with a great education. For these reasons, I believe that I would make a great addition to your team.
I am interested in attending a college where I can get a degree in sports management/sports media with some business. This will help me attain my goal of becoming a college coach or sports analyst. I thank you for taking the time to read this and review the other information compiled within my profile. I hope to receive an opportunity to play the game that I love at the college level while continuing my education.
