Daniel Shiramizu '11 Recruiting Profile

The most important asset that I as a basketball player can bring to any team is my quickness. I've talked to many opposing coaches and players, and a common thought between all of them is the idea that I am the quickest guard they have had to coach against or play against all year. That is the most important characteristic that as an athlete I bring to the table. This my senior year has been full of some accomplishments that I am very proud of. I was named 1st team all state in both football and basketball, and was invited to all-star games in both respective sports. This was a great honor and a great way to end my high school career. The most important thing that I can offer to a team would be my ability to get all of those around me involved. I love setting up my teammates, and sharing the ball. This lead to me accumulating the 3rd most assists in the state of Utah over this past season. The geographic location of an interested school is not that big of a deal to me. It would be nice to stay relatively close to home in Utah, but by no means am I reserved to neighboring states. Also the type of school that I attend is not of huge importance either. Of course I would prefer a school with a good standard of academics that will lead me into a bright future, but as I said this isn't the biggest concern for me. My family could certainly use some financial assistance, I've attended private school my whole life so they have spent many years paying for my education. I also have two other siblings that my parents are putting through school as well so financial aid would be helpful. As of now I do not have a specific major to go after; I was thinking in the area of business or marketing but only time will tell in which major I fit best into as a student. My largest athletic goal would have to be that I play at as high a level of competition as possible. I want to play for a program that takes pride in their performance, and I want to be able to contribute and make a real impact on a successful team. I will work hard, and do whatever I need to do in order to reach these goals.
