Personal Statement

I am a 5'11" Combo Guard from El Paso, Texas. I currently attend Cochise Junior College in Douglas, Arizona, and I am looking to transfer to a university where I will have the opportunity to walk-on or try out for a position on the basketball team. I have a great attitude and an outstanding work ethic on the court and in the classroom. I consider myself to be a gym rat, and I consistently look for ways to improve my game. Whether it is on the court doing drills and conditioning work, or in the weight room, I give it my all and will work harder than anyone else. I believe that I would be a great fit for any basketball program because I’m a strong point guard with the ability to play shooting guard. I know how to read the game, and I have great court vision, ball handling skills, and I can shoot the three. I know how to utilize my size against smaller guards and I have the perception and skill to finish at the rim with either hand. As a two year varsity starter, I averaged 15 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds per game. I was All City first team Honorable Mention and All City Defensive first team. I graduated from El Dorado High School in June 2011 with a 3.47 GPA, and was a member of the National Honor Society. I currently have a 3.0 college GPA, and would love to attend a college that will afford me an opportunity to continue studying in the field of Exercise Science/Physical Therapy. My goal is to pursue a career in Physical Therapy or as an Athletic Trainer. I am looking for a program that would afford me an opportunity to prove that I can play, and contribute to the team’s success.
