Personal Statement

I consider myself a high basketball IQ player who can score from the perimeter but balances that with attacking the basket.  I am an aggressive defender; willing to rebound, box out, take charges and make that extra pass. I have played basketball for over 8 years and served as team captain (in both basketball and football), leading our teams through both adversity and success. Playing college basketball is an intense desire so I am willing to travel the distance and work for any program where I can make a contribution while balancing athletics with academics.

  • Athletically - Named Pantego Christian Male Athlete of the Year; Offensive MVP-Basketball; Offensive MVP-Football at PCA Athletic Banquet on 5/5/14.  Won 2 Silver Medals at State Track Meet on 5/3/14 (4x100 & 4x200).  During my entire high school career, I have been a three-sport athlete and been blessed to have leadership roles and excel in each.  I have learned the value of hard work since that is what has been required to develop skills in each of my multiple sports.  Multi-sport participation has also allowed me to (1) improve my leadership and teamwork skills with a different peer group in each sport, (2) improve my athletic skills through cross-training, (3) become a fast learner of techniques and systems, and (4) learn to thrive with a variety of different coaching styles.  While I have had success in each sport, basketball is my passion and I have sought to continually improve my game through individual and team practice, camps and competition.  PGC (Point Guard College) has been instrumental in my development as a basketball player (physically and mentally), leader, and encourager.
  • Character - I have sought to live my life in a manner to glorify my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  My integrity and character is integral in living my life in such a manner.  I have been active in community/volunteer service throughout high school, including going on multiple national and international mission trips.
  • Leadership - Athletics has been a wonderful training ground to develop and apply leadership skills, including the leadership training I received through PGC Basketball.  My leadership has been recognized by my peers and coaches by being named team captain this year in both football and basketball.  My teachers have also recognized my leadership skills by selecting me three times to attend Leadership Rocks!LIFT Conference (Student Leadership University) to further develop my leadership skills.
  • Academically - I am a solid student (including 25 ACT) and am very interested in combining the study of Business and Exercise Science in college.

  • Camp/Event
  • PGC Basketball Shooting College
  • Learn earn how great shooters think, shoot, and practice. This training weekend is designed to help players develop a shooter’s mindset, build sound shooting techniques, and train effectively to work on their shot. Players will also benefit from learning specific shots that great scorers need in their toolbox.
  • Camp/Event
  • PGC Essentials
  • 1 Week Camp - Intense, rigorous basketball training experience that teaches you what to practice, and how to practice, to excel on the court. You will learn all the habits and skills necessary for you to be effective against bigger, faster players. You will also discover how to train more effectively, so you don’t practice and practice without getting results. We’ll teach you how to train smarter and harder so that your efforts pay off.
  • Camp/Event
  • PGC Point Guard College
  • 1 Week Camp - Being a point guard isn’t merely a position on a basketball team, it’s a commitment to a way of life and the position of leadership in a team game. The skills and information taught in this course are what every great point guard must know, but players who learn to play intelligently and to lead effectively are always more valuable to their teams, no matter what position they play. Thus, all positions are welcome. Talent and instinct alone aren’t enough to lead a team to a championship. There are thousands of “little things” that win basketball games. If you don’t understand all the ways in which encouragement, leadership, and communication can positively affect a group of people, you can’t lead a team effectively, no matter how talented you are. You’ll study how to get your teammates to work harder, to work together, and to overcome adversity. You will be placed in situations that challenge both your leadership and communication skills, and you will learn ways to make yourself and your teammates better, in practice and in games.
  • Camp/Event
  • PGC Game-Time
  • One Week Camp - Put PGC principles into action within a team setting and game situations. Through daily 5-on-5 games, officiated according to PGC’s unique rules and principles, players will strengthen their ability to play smart, strong basketball. Players will learn critical offensive and defensive team concepts, and will benefit from having all the key PGC principles ‘reloaded’ into their game. Game-Time serves as the ideal training ground for players who want to apply PGC’s habits of play, leadership concepts, and communication principles in an intense, competitive environment.
