Hello, my name is Kristopher Huntsman better known as (Kris). I am a 6'1 point guard, and power forward for Criagmont High school, Memphis, TN. I am a basketball fanatic, I love the sport and I truly inspire to play professionally in my adult life. The love of basketball came about during my younger years as a child, being born in the early 2000's. I of course, grew up watching LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and so many other talented players. While watching these players my love for basketball grew, and I knew that I had to play. Also living in a single parent home, watching my mom struggle, having an absent dad and or missing a male presence gave me the most inspiration to want to play. Although some might feel that being in a single parent home shouldn't be motivation, however; to me it is. Missing a dad has defiantly played its role in my development, living in a urban area where a lot of influences are around, gangs, drugs, and girls, are all things that can a keep young men like myself overwhelmed and not focused. Moreover for me I would have to say for me the biggest downfall to it is, the thought of constantly wishing I had my dad to play basketball with me or at least teach something's about life and the sport, is what gets to me the most. In thought, life just comes to people differently and we all must learn to adapt, and I did.
Moreover, now that I am in high school I have learned how to cope with life, and now my biggest priority is to graduate on time, make a great name for myself on the basket ball team, increase my points I average per game, become a legend, and take care of my mom. I truly am inspired to play college level ball at a division I, or division II school, while I am there I will work my hardest to be the best player on the team, by having a great attitude, being humble, being aggressive and powerful when it game time, and more importantly coachable. It is biggest responsibly that I just do not be come a great athlete, but also I have to become a great student who is serious about his academics. Outside of basketball my dream is to became a youth advocate to help under privileged youth in poor communities, and provide them a way out. I want to give them a voice so they can turn their rough moments to more positive moments through sports, mentoring, and guidance; this is my dream. Hope that this personal statement finds it's way to the many coaches that read, and or view my profile and also encourages coaches to select me as a player on their team. I would be truly privileged and honored if selected and this would be one of my life biggest accomplishments, and I will not let my coach down.
Thank You
Kristopher Andrew Huntsman
