Personal Statement

In pursuing a collegiate career I hope to achieve a degree in religious studies, meet new people, inspire and encourage others to achieve their hopes and dreams, and not only play collegiate basketball, but win and represent the school in a well-rounded and positive manner. I bring character, determination, personality, and a winning attitude to my environment. I have a positive and optimistic personality. Academics are extremely important to me, for a degree shows willingness and determination.

  • Coach Sartor is the Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at Spartanburg Day School in Spartanburg, SC. At SDS, Coach Sartor had a record of 108-57. His team won two CAA Conference Championships, two CAA Conference Tournament Championships. SDS has made the State playoff each year he coached. SDS finished in the final 4 of the NCISAA 2A State Tournament the last four years. Coach Sartor was Coach of the Year in 2006 and is currently a NCAA Certified Coach. •While in high school at Spartanburg High School, Coach Sartor was a 3-year starter at the Point Guard position and a 3-year letterman. Coach Sartor led the team in scoring and assist, was the team MVP, and named All Upper State and honorable All State of SC. To complete his high school career, Coach Sartor played in the North/South All Star Game where he led his team in assist and second in scoring. Coach Sartor scored over a 1000 points, had over 600 assists, 200 steals, and 400 rebounds during his career at SHS. •Coach Sartor earned a basketball scholarship to USC-Upstate and was a four year starter at the Point Guard and a 4 year Letterman. Upon completing college career, Coach Sartor held the record of Most Assist in a game, 2nd Most Assist for a season, and 2nd All Time Assist Leader. •After College, Coach Sartor had opportunities to play professionally overseas and in several Semi Pro leagues.

  • Evaluated each player as they went through a series of skill development drills testing: ball handling, shooting, quickness, and IQ. In addition, players were assigned to one of six teams and each team played three games for 5 on 5 play to see how well each player applied their skills to in game situation. At the conclusion of 5 on 5 play the Top 20 players of the event were selected to play in the Top 20 All-Star Game. I was selected as one of the Top 20 players and started in the All-Star Game.
