Peter Wood '14 Recruiting Profile

My name is Peter Wood and I am a 6’4” 190 lb. wing/forward from Sheldon High School in Eugene, Oregon.  I started playing competitive sports in third grade as a defenseman for the Lane County Juniors’ hockey program and as I grew, I developed a love of many sports including football, lacrosse, baseball and of course, basketball.  I have been a team captain and/or all-star in each of the sports that I have participated in.  I feel that I have learned many valuable lessons in each of these sports (such as mental and physical toughness, leadership, etc.) and that these lessons carry over and help me become a better basketball player.  Currently, I play both forward positions and center on my AAU and high school teams as well as wide receiver and free safety on the Sheldon Football team. (6A)  I also participate in Crossfit training three days a week here in town.  I never shy away from hard work in the gym, the weight room, or the classroom.

I have played for the same AAU program (Dribble Drive) for eight years and have participated in tournaments from Las Vegas to Seattle.  In any particular game, I may be asked to play any of the five positions on the court and have strong skills both inside the key and on the perimeter.  Year in and year out, our fast paced, high intensity style of play has made us one of the top teams in the Northwest.

I enjoy the Northwest, but am open to visiting and attending school in many areas of the U.S.  Financial assistance will be a factor in my decision, but most important to me is a good fit with a great team, a great school and a great basketball program.
