Desmond Lawrence '11 Recruiting Profile

I attend a highschool named Sir Wilfrid Laurier Collegiate Institute in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I am 6`2 and weigh about 160lbs, with a slim athletic build. I have been playing basketball since i was 9 and decided to take basketball seriously and to a competitive level when i became 14. I played for a representative basketball association named, Scarborough Basketball Association. This team would play other teams within the city of Toronto and then play at a provincial level(Provincial Basketball Tournament) as the season grew thinner. I have received runner-up at both appearances I made to the provincial tournament when i was 14 and 18. As for highschool basketball Ive gone to Metros(junior city wide championship tournament) in grade 10 and we came up short in that event. This current year my highschool team has won the Regional Championships as well as becoming number 1 in our region and now we are competing for the City Championships and hopefully progress on to OFSAA(Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations) which is a Provincial tournament. One of my biggest achievements is obtaining a Bilingual Certificate. Also going from a 60% average student to a 75% average student. I would love to attend a Division 1 University in the United States because i want to play basketball at the highest level there is so i can gain new experience and use it to further enhance my skills although I am open to any other type of school that offers basketball at a very high level as well. As long as i have the oppurtunity to play the sport I most admire I dont care where I go. I would attend any school in the United States as long as they offered a Business Program so I can play basketball and also continue with my studies and goal to be an accountant if basketball doesn`t work out. I want to be put in the most competitive atmosphere possible on the court as well as off the court with my studies. I am an open-minded individual so new experiences are embraced gracefully so it wouldnt matter how big the school is or where it is located; I truly enjoy the oppurtunities to embark on new experiences.
