RECOMMENDATION FROM MICHAEL KEARNEY - DONOVAN CATHOLIC HEAD BASKETBALL COACH
Tyler McShea is the quintessential scholar athlete, someone who excels, both in his AP classes and on the basketball court. The root of his success rests not only in his natural physical and academic gifts, but also in his approach to challenges. Tyler works hard to understand a task, then works tirelessly to master that task. On the basketball court, this mindset is evinced by his attention to detail: he sets excellent screens, he rolls the right way, he snatches passes with two hands, he makes the next pass, he finishes strong, he talks on defense...the list goes on. Combine this basketball IQ with excellent footwork, solid ball skills, a soft shooting touch out to the 3pt line, and it is clear that Tyler McShea is not only an excellent player, but he is also a coveted teammate.
RECOMMENDATION FROM EDWARD GOODMAN - OCEAN ELITE AAU HEAD BASKETBALL COACH
I have had the opportunity of coaching Tyler McShea over the last two AAU basketball seasons. It was a privilege to get to know Tyler both as a player and as an individual. He is an extraordinary young adult that has all the qualities to be one of the best student athletes at any given college or university. His mental toughness and work ethic are second to none. The way Tyler mentally prepares for each game allows him to utilize his considerable skills - rebounding, defensive, passing, and shooting touch, making him a formidable presence on the court. His poise and willingness to achieve both team and personal goals are definitely two of the hallmarks that set him apart from other student athletes. He works extremely hard in the classroom to be 2nd in his class academically and that work ethic and determination is displayed both in practice and games. I do not hesitate to send my recommendation for Tyler McShea as a basketball player, an exceptional leader, student athlete, and above all an outstanding young adult. He would be an asset to any educational institution both on the basketball court and in the classroom.
