I am Stanley Mayambo, a 6'2 guard that plays primarily at the 1 position. I also play the 2 and 3 positions at times as I like working on the wing. I weigh 170 pounds and use my speed, athleticism and jab series to create my opportunities.
My most important accomplishments up to date have do not only come from Athletics but Music as well. In Athletics, my biggest achievements have been 1st Team All Star at the 2014 Canadian National Championship, Defensive Player of the Year for my Varsity Team in my Junior Year, Defensive Player of the Dairy Town Classic Tournament, Rookie of The Year on my JV team in my Freshman year and Rookie of the Year on my Varsity Team in my Sophomore year. As a starter on my Varsity Team (and the only sophomore on the team) we won our second straight championship (my first). In my Sophomore summer I was selected to represent my province at the Canada Games where we placed fourth (projected to place 8th or lower).
In terms of Musical Accomplishements, I have my Grade 8 in Piano and have also recieved the highest mark on my Grade 5 piano exam in my province (New Brunswick). I have also won the North American Championships in Grade 4 Pipe Band Drumming (snare drum).
What I can bring to a team is leadership, hard work, and maturity. I always stay positive even when times are tough. I also never am satisfied, so I will push myself to become better by putting in work, staying late and coming early. It is my dream to play at the highest level in college sports, and I will not stop working hard until that dream is a reality. I can also bring an accepting environnment as I like to make sure everyone on the team feels included and feels like they belong on the team.
I would enjoy going to school anywhere on the east coast of the United States because it is closer to home. Preferably in New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania or Carolina, but would gladly attend any school in Georgia, Florida, etc...
I am open too any school that presents itself to me the best. However, I would like a school that is not only interested in my athletics but driven to help me in academics and setting myself up for life. I understand there is a life after basketball and that is why I feel my choice needs to meet those specifications. I am not looking for a religious school.
I would like to major in Kinesiology because I am very interested in the human body, and how it works. I have ideas of becoming a physiotherapist and eventually opening my own practice. If I were to choose a different path it would be in Psychology.
My realistic athletic goals, are to play in Division 1 and help the team I am on in whatever way possible to achieve success. Whether it is starting, sixth man, or role player, I am willing to do my job to my full capabilities.
