I just completed my Junior year at The Winchendon School. Our team had a very successful season losing in the finals at the NEPSAC tournament to Green Farm School. Several of my teammates are headed to Division 1 and 3 colleges and have provided me with positive feedback for my couple years at Winchendon on Varsity. During my Freshman year at High Mowing School I realized that to accomplish my goals of playing basketball at the collegiate level I would need to transfer to another private school with a more competitive basketball program. This was not an easy decision because I was a starter on High Mowing's team and contributing the most points. This felt good as a Freshman but I realized I needed to be challenged more. I applied to and was admitted into," The Winchendon School" located in Winchendon ,Massachusetts where I am currently a junior. I played in every Varsity game as a sophomore on the Winchendon Varisty Basketball team several of my teammates went on to D1 colleges. As a Junior I have started in all but the "senior game". In most of the games I played the entire game not coming out unless a time out was called. I feel that I have worked hard to be a contributing team player and Coach Papa Lo and Coach Shaun Jayachandran would speak favorably of my work ethic and accomplishments on and off the court . This year I lead our team in scoring with 248 points, shooting 49% overall. My 2 pt. percentage was 53% and my 3 pt. percentage was 40%. I was 83% at the foul line and had 10 blocks during the year. Winchendon is a competitive program we compete against; Hyde School, Pingree School, Green Farm, St Thomas Moore, Brewster and New Hampton, Commonwealth Academy.Several of these schools are Class AA schools. I scored 28 points in the Commonwealth Academy game. The Commonwealth Academy coach informed me many of his players were going D1 and congratulated me on my game. Our Varsity Team was invited to the recent Hoop Dreams Invitational @ Tuffs College and we beat St Paul's School. We have played some top level schools, one of which was the Vermont Academy Varsity. Most if not all the players on that team are going Division I. Even though we were not able to keep the score close, I feel that I was able to physically compete defensively.
My dreams are to develop my skills and abilities to play at a D-1 level. In reality I can see myself playing in a D-II program and most certainly for D-III colleges. Academics are important to me and I hope to find a college that will meet my academic goals and allow me success playing basketball. I had a very high GPA at High Mowing 3.45 . My current GPA is not at that level ( 3.0) but I feel that the academic program at Winchendon is much harder than at High Mowing or Pioneer Valley where I was a High Honors student. Someday I would like to see myself coaching at the college level. I have a good understanding of the game, have been complimented on my sportsmanship and feel I have the personality to be a good coach.
