My name is Tyler Newton, a senior at Nicholas County High School. I am ranked #1 in my class with a 4.160 GPA, after completion of my junior year. My junior season, I led our team in scoring and assists as a junior, primarily from the point guard position. I finished 8th in the state in free-throw percentage at 84.8% in 175 attempts. I made 58 three-point shots last season and 23 of 50 three-pointers during my sophomore season at another school. Last season, I was voted co-captain as a junior and senior. I led our team to a Christmas tournament championship, being named MVP of the tournament. In the holiday tournament, I averaged over 25 points per game and tallied 35 points in the opening game . I was selected to the All-A 10th Region Tournament team and voted by region coaches as Honorable Mention All-10th Region team.
My senior season (2014-2015), I was named to the 10th Region All-Region team and also was named to the All-A tournament team for the second consecutive year. Due to an elbow injury early on in the season my points per game was down a little from last year but I did distribute the basketball and do the little things to help my team win. Since the beginning of January I have been able to come back 100% and have shot the ball extremely well. Including a 30pt., 5 reb., 5 assist, and 3 steal game. I am the son of a coach and feel I have a high basketball IQ. I am a high character person who would be a leader in the locker room and community. I show up early to every practice day looking to get better and to make my team better. I have dedicated myself and my efforts to continuing my career at the next level.
