Personal Statement
Dear Coach, ( Please watch the video " Sophomore Year highlights" in my press links section for more recent highlights) I am a hardworking, intelligent, team-orientated point guard who makes good decisions on both ends of the court. Even as the youngest player on my teams, I have always been a leader. I take pride in my discretion??knowing when to take over a game, and when to work within the system; when to make a defensive gamble and when to stay home. I am a 5??9??, broadly built, 1750-pound ??coach on the court????or at least that??s what my coaches call me. I am a stellar ball-handler with a good assist-to-turnover ratio. I score with a variety of mid-range pull-up jumpshots, three-pointers, and floaters in the lane. On defense, I take my assignments seriously. I stay in front of my man, take advantage of his weaknesses, make good choices, and take charges like Derek Fisher. I am at my best when the game is on the line. I am cool under pressure, and know how to execute a game plan. My basketball experience is extensive and diverse. I??ve been playing with the England National team since age 13, and I earned a spot and captained the team when I turned 14. That same year, I captained my under-14 club team to the England National championship game. For my high school team, I started at point guard every game as a freshman. I have attended several camps and combines, earning player of the week at Stanford Camp. At Five-Star Camp I won the 1-on-1 competition and was selected to be on the All-Star Team. I am as hardworking off the court as I am on the court. I am an outspoken but considerate teammate and student, and I like to lead by example. I enjoy my schoolwork and I recognize that my academic achievement is the ticket to my athletic achievement. Beyond basketball I??m an avid musician and I participate in student leadership boards. Thank you for considering me, Aboudi Qattan ??12
