Personal Statement

Since the age of 5, I have been playing my favorite sport, basketball. I have always dreamed of playing at a collegiate level. I am highly skilled in handling and shooting. In addition to that, I have a high basketball IQ. I am a team captain and I lead by example. I encourage my teammates to work hard just as I do. I am respectful, and have outstanding work ethics. I am a very coachable player and never give up. I push through pain, and know how to find that “extra gear” in games, and even in practices. I always drive myself beyond expectations. Those are reasons why I would make a good candidate for a college team.

      I believe that I am different from other recruits. Off the court, I maintain a 3.9-4.0 GPA. I pay attention in class, do all my assignments, am respectful to every staff member, and always exhibit good behavior. This year (2015), I am the National Honors Society Vice-President of my school. Outside of school, I volunteer at Faith Kingdom Academy International School reading to kids ranging in ages 3-7. I also work with young children to improve their skills in sports which includes football, basketball, and volleyball.

      I’ve been presented with various athletic awards. I received a MVP Football Award (2012), a Coach’s Football Award (2011), an All-Camp Award (2013 Mainland Basketball Camp), Standout at Coach Dave Taylor's Basketball Camp (2014), All-Conference Award (Kanto Plains Conference) (2014), 2014 & 2015 All-Far East Award (DODDS Sponsored Tournament), DODDS Japan 2015 All-Tournament Award, DODDs Japan 2015 Most Valuable Player Award, 2015 Far East Most Valuable Player, All-Far East First Team, 2015 Stars and Stripes Basketball Athlete of the Year, and 2015 Pacific Sports Blog’s winter sports Athletes of the Season. Also, I have been named captain for several teams including, the Yokota Panthers JV Football Team (2012), the Yokota Saints Basketball Team (AAU) (2011-2014), and the Yokota Panthers Varsity Basketball Team (2014-2015).
