Personal Statement
Over the last few years I have developed a strong passion for basketball. It has signified a changing point in my life and represents the rewards of hard work and perseverance. Beginning high school in the 7th grade I was placed in the 5th team for my grade. Ever since I have worked meticulously training most days. 3 years later I was the youngest in my grade to make the varsity team in grade 10.
What sets me apart from other players at my level is my desire to continue to improve. Having not started as an incredible player I understand the amount of work that is required to play at the next level and am willing to put the effort in to achieve it. This not only applies to my athletics but also academic. With a GPA of 3.98, I pride myself on maintaining exceptional grades. In my High School Certificate (Australia's equivalent of SAT) I scored a 95.15/99.95 placing me in the top 5% of the state. This is something I plan to continue in my next stage of education.
In my final 2 years of high school I was selected for 1st team All-Conference. Since then I have also made representative teams, representing the Sydney metropolitan area. In a competition with ages 17- 21, as a freshman I lead my team to state semi-finals and was awarded MVP honours for my team. My primary position is shooting guard, and every team that I have been on I was regarded as the designated shooter. I have the ability to stretch the defence with my range and knocks down 3s at a high percentage off the catch or coming off screens. Ever since developing my passion for basketball I have strived to play collegiate basketball on scholarship.
