Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Hadley Miller and I would like to tell you a little about myself.  I am a 15 year old freshman at Three Rivers High School.  I will be a 4 sport varsity letter winner (volleyball, basketball, track, and soccer) by the end of the school year.  I like the challenge and variety of being a multisport athlete but basketball is my passion and the sport I would like to pursue in college.  During my freshman year, I was the starting small forward/shooting guard that led the team in points scored/rebounds and was an integral part of our high school team winning districts.  While sports is a big part of my personal identity, it's not the only thing I place value on in my life.  My education, family, having strong morals, being respectful, and having the reputation as being the hardest worker are important to me. I take pride in being a coachable leader on and off the court.

I know the next three years of high school are extremely important to be prepared for college.  I will strive for continuous improvement and growth both physically and mentally throughout this time.   Academically, I will challenge myself by taking as many advance placement and college prep classes while maintaining a high GPA, making the National Honor Society and continue in my role as class treasurer.  Athletically, I plan to grow my strengths and attack my weaknesses by training in the weight room, conditioning on the track, working with a basketball trainer and attending elite camps.

I plan to consider colleges who will be a good match for me academically and contribute to my success on and off the court.  While I am unsure of a major in college, I enjoy the study of the human body and am leaning towards physical therapy.  Also, I will pursue a college that offers an opportunity to be in an environment that promotes studying, closeness with the student body, coaches and teammates.  I plan to be a dynamic player and team leader.  I will always sacrifice personal stats for team success.  Most importantly, I will conduct myself with honor and respect on and off the field knowing the way I carry myself reflects the team, my coaches, and the school I attend.
