Personal Statement

My name is Merault "Malik" Almonor and my collegiate goals and aspirations is to one day, play with a professional team in the United States. With the drive and passion that I hold for the game of basketball, I hope to show my skills and talents across the board. One day to play internationally if I have a chance to do this.  My dream would include teaching the young kids how to play basketball with the driving force that l have felt and continue to feel for basketball. I have learned to give back because someone gave back for me to focus on my dreams when I was young. The greatest feeling in the world for me was graduating from Rabun Gap Nacoochee High School located in Georgia.  With a 3.0 GPA, my goal in life is to attend a four year college after junior college that would help me to achieve better academics and athletics that will help me to pursue my career in sports business and management.
What makes me a great candidate for your team is my constant vigilance to aspire to be a better team player and  trying to implement a good game plan with my team.  What makes me different from others is that I do not have a sad story to tell about my life I came from a family with a mother and father and little brother and this was truely a blessing. Today I am reminded from friends who come to my house that I am so lucky to have a dad in my life who loves me. So that is why I want to help other kids who had so little and who deserve so much. I want to become their big brother.  After basketball I would want to own my business and become a personal trainer.
My athletics and my academics have to go hand in hand I realize how important they are in my life to achieve what I need to do. So I reach out to my God and my family for their continue love and support , for they have sacrifice so many things in life to make me who I am today a man of faith, talent, passion and a determination to complete my goals in this life. My family, friends and church members, have taught me that God is first and he will always be by my side; whenever I need him. Thank you .

  • Malik Almonor | Junior | Rice | New York, NY A 5’10” point guard with great court vision, Almonor has the ability to read any defense. Whatever zone or trap was thrown his way, he managed to get out of with ease and find the open man. He had a clear understanding of the game and great court vision, while also providing tenacious defense. His energy levels never waivered and resulted very few easy baskets for the opposition. After recovering from a leg injury freshman year that required surgery, Almonor is using Hoop Group to make his presence felt and jumpstart his recruiting game.
