Ariel McClarin '11 Recruiting Profile

I am a senior at Lake Howell High School in Florida and will graduate in May, 2011. I rank with in the top 50 percentile based on the last FCAT test scores and I'm retaking the ACT in April. I'm very interested in attending a large University and would love to be part of your Basketball program. I've always dreamed of competing on Division I,II or NAIA level sports in any state. I've been playing organized basketball since the age of 9yrs old. In New York City I played for the St. Sylvesters Road Runners, which was a part of the Catholic School Youth Org. (CYO). During this time I was recognized in the Staten Island Advance newspaper for my skills and leadership on the team. My family and I moved to Florida in 2002 and I continued to play basketball through the FBVA league. I played several years in this league before deciding to take a more competitive approach. I played for several AAU teams such as Avalon Predators, L2 Panthers, the Running Rebels, and currently on the Florida Top Prospects. Ive been under the guidance of Coach Steve Kohn for 4 years now and also attend Orlando Hoops for basketball training. My personal trainer Irwin Johnson has worked with Nick Calathes who now plays over seas, Chandler Parsons of the Florida Gators and Jason Williams of the Orlando Magics. Now he has been working just as hard with me in efforts to prepare me for the next level. I've played varsity for 2 years, starting guard for 1. This was due to Coach Kohns approach to senior players getting the majority of playing time. Control of the game, being considered the team leader and following my Coaches direction are my main priorities. Discipline and leadership is what separates me from your average player and even from the above average scorer. Because of this I feel I would be an asset to your program. Stats: Ari averages 10 points, 10 assist, 80% FT., and 5 rebounds per game. Currently I'm 5'11. 165 lbs. with less then 7% body fat. I can run full court in 3.2 seconds and have a 22" vertical.
