Personal Statement

I consider myself to be a student-athlete. Academics are very important to me. I work hard on and off the court because I know that both have a big influence on my future. Basketball has been important to me since I was young. I work hours at trying to become better. Working hard does not scare me and I believe it is what it takes to get to the next level. I am a team player and will do anything I can do help my teammates succeed. Honesty, integrity, loyalty, and hard-work are character qualities that I feel are necessary for me to have as well as others. I feel like I am a great teammate and team player and would help any team. While I do want to do well and push myself to do the best I can do, I don't put myself above other people. I consider my team like a unit - it's not just about me. It's about the team so my focus isn't just about what I can do for me, but what I can do for my teammates. In addition,  I am still growing and have been projected, by two different doctors, to be 6'11".

Academic Accomplishments

Are you in honor classes?
Yes. I am part of the Cambridge University program. This is a magnet program in the Pinellas County School System. It is very rigorous. The classes I take are honors, AP, or AICE (which are considered higher than honors classes and often more difficult than AP). It is a very challenging program. I'm sure I could be getting straight A's in a regular program, but it is a privilege to be a part of Cambridge.
Are you in AP/IB classes?
Yes. As I stated above, I've taken AP classes. These are part of my Cambridge program when AICE classes are not available. My AICE classes are just as difficult or in many cases more difficult than AP courses.
Registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center?
No

Awards and Activities

  • AwardsI became part of the National Honor Society as a Sophomore. This was a big honor. I was the valedictorian of my 8th grade class. I tutor students in various math subjects and really enjoy learning.
  • ActivitiesI do various volunteer activities with my National Honor Society club. I am active at my church and participate in youth group functions. I tutor various math related subjects.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
