Andrew Varnes '17 Recruiting Profile

Hello,

    My name is Andy Varnes and I will be a senior and will graduate in 2017. All my life I played sports but basketball is by far my favorite. In my high school career I have played football, basketball, tennis, and will be running track this year. My two main sports are football and basketball. I play free safety in football and will be a senior captain this year. Playing football has helped me greatly in basketball because it helped with my awareness, reaction time, strength but most importantly, it taught me how to play as a team and be a vocal leader.

     I am extremely grateful for my family. I live with my mother, father, and sister. My parents have supported me through every sport that I have played. They have tried to come and watch me play in every game I have ever played in. My father played football at East Carolina and he is the reason I am very competitive and have a very hard work ethic. My dad always made sure I had a great integrity and character, while my mom made sure that I had great academics. My mother works at Christ Church Academy which is also the high school I attend. Because I have grown up playing sports I know how to be a leader, but also how to follow and strongly feel I can play at the next level.
