Coach Rogers' Reference/Scouting Report: Consistent athlete with above average IQ. Tremendous defender who does a great job of eliminating offensive player's options and tools. Impressive rebounder who consistently gets the job done without over-working. Very efficient in all he does, and a very creative scorer around the rim. Above average shooter 20 feet in - will have much more opportunity to show-off guard skills in SR year. Glue guy for any team. Not the most vocal, but he speaks with conviction and does a great job of keeping his teammates smiling and having fun. He will be a major contributor at the D3/NAIA level because of his versatility, toughness and smarts. Will need to add about 10lbs of muscle and get a step-quicker for the D2 level, but has the length to be a productive D2 contributor by SO year. He is a Mike Dunleavy JR type of player with a developing 3pt shot.
Personal Statement: I am currently a 6’4” senior starter on my 5A (Colorado’s highest division) high school basketball team, playing primarily in the 3 position, but able to play the 4 and 5, if my coaches need me in those roles against our opponents. I enjoy the game on both sides of the court and am pleased to, not only contribute my highest individual strengthens, but also support my teammates to have their best games. In many games, I usually have lots of assists, because I am attentive to where my teammates are on the court, who is open or on a hot streak. I work hard to get them the ball, while also remaining diligent to get into position myself to take and make high percentage shots. I am equally attentive to be as aggressive on defense, especially in taking away an opponent's ability to score.
I am extremely focused on running the kind of game that my coaches have planned. With attention to knowing the plays at the positions I might be placed in, executing the plays to the best of my ability, and adhering to the instructions that my coaches give me and our team during the course of competition, I have always learned how to be a better basketball player from every single coach I have had. I would welcome the potential opportunity of learning the next level of competitive collegiate basketball as a student-athlete.
