My name is Jack Popp and I am a junior at Homestead High School. I have always had a goal of playing sports in high school and eventually in college. My dad played college and pro football, which has been a strong influence on my direction and goals. In high school I've narrowed my focus to playing football and basketball and have been able to play varsity football and basketball - starting my freshman, sophomore and junior years so far. This year I am the starting WR and leading receiver on one of the top-ranked teams in the State of Wisconsin.
While sports have always been very important to me, academics are just as important. I understand this and have worked hard to keep my grade point average at its current level of 3.65. My parents always remind me that if I don't keep my grades up there will be no sports. I have also been taught to be a leader both in the classroom and on the field and I think my teachers and coaches would agree that I do a pretty good job of this. As I look at colleges in the coming years, academic opportunity will be an important consideration.
I am looking for a college with good athletics, academics and a good social fit for me. What is most important to me is a school where I can get a great education while playing football in a competitive program. I feel strongly that my work ethic, athleticism and overall attitude will make me a strong recruit for someone.
