Even back in 2010, when I first started playing Pop Warner football in Honolulu, I knew that I was on my way to play college football. However, it has not been a straight forward journey. I have been to three different high schools in three radically different cities: Honolulu, Houston and now Seattle. I am really looking forward to playing my senior year at the SAME high school in Seattle, but the coaching staff has changed, so now I am on my fourth, and happily incredible, Head Coach. But I am not complaining, because it has been an incredible experience and serious challenge on all fronts: mental, emotional and academic, to adjust to different teams and regional football cultures. It has made me stronger, more adaptive and honed my leadership skills.
I train for football year round and am currently working with strength and conditioning coach, Joe Palumbo, former NFL strength and conditioning coach for the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns. I have always “played up,” as I am usually the youngest player in my grade (I am still 17 at the end of the 2016 football season), but this too has made me tough and competitive. I have put on more than 20 pounds since the 2015 season, but have retained my speed and agility.
I am a solid B student and proud to have been chosen by my high school coaching staff as the 2016 football team captain. Additionally, I am the 1st Team All League Tight End for my region.
