Matt Lawton '17 Recruiting Profile

I am a quiet and steady leader.  I am cool under pressure and lead by example.  I will not be outworked and I expect that of my teammates.  I am eager to play Football at the next level and at the same time I have already started coaching young football players in our local recreational leagues.  I obtained the starting Quarterback position at Thomas Dale High School through hard work and dedication.  My school is the largest school in our area and there were many young men attempting to get the Quarterback position.  I will bring that determination, dedication, work ethic, and leadership to whatever program provides this opportunity to me.

In 2015, my Junior year, I was awarded First Team All Conference QB (VA 6A South, Conference 3) as well as Second Team All Region QB (VA 6A South).  My High School coaches awarded me the "Offensive Player of the Year" for 2015 as well.  At our season ending banquet, I was informed that I set two new school passing records during the 2015 season (Most Passing Yards in a Single Game, and Most Passing Yards in a Single Season).  However, for me, the most exciting part of the 2015 season was being part of the team that went all the way to the Virginia 6A Semi Finals.
