Personal Statement

Coaches, thank you for taking the time to get to know me. My name is Jacob Wallace Wright, but I go by Jake.

I am a 6 foot, 196 lb linebacker from Seguin, Texas. I run a 4.6 / 40 and am a multi sport athlete.  Football and the outdoors are my passion. If I am not playing football, I am working in the hay field on our place or hunting.  I have been a starter for the Navarro High School Varsity team for three years.  As a freshman I earned the New Comer of the Year award and received Honorable Mention All State Linebacker.  Since that time I have been First Team All District, First Team All Area, and Dave Campbells High School pick two years in a row as the Defensive MVP.  I have also been named on the All State Team as Linebacker in 2014 and 2015.

This past season, I received all district Most Valuable Player and All Area Player of the Year for Region 4 Division II.  I have been chosen to lead my team this year as captain of the defense since my Sophomore year. My passion and love for the game is apparent every time I walk on the field.  You will not find anyone that works harder and stays in the fight longer.

I have a 3.3 GPA.  I am looking for a school that fits me both on the field and in the classroom. Outdoors is where I want to spend my time, so pursing a university that has a strong Agricultural/Horticulture department would be ideal for me.

Athletically, I would want to come in and make an immediate impact on the team and play at the highest level possible.  I can keep my team up and keep them in the fight!

I believe my best fit would be at the DII or NAIA level but would most definitely love the chance to be at a D1 that needs me as much as I need them! Thank you , Jake Wright
