I have not completely decided on my major though I do know I want to attend college. One thought is that I will acquire a Masters degree in Engineering or another is to pursue a degree that would allow me to take a step into the medical field, preferably a family doctor or surgeon. I know achieving these goals is going to take hard work and commitment. This is also what I apply to the field while playing football. During the last 10 years while playing the game of football I have been told by multiple coaches that I am a very coach-able player and I can take what the coaches have taught me and perform and perfect it on the field. I have found that when I listen to what they say I am able to improve myself for the team. Sometimes I may not agree with what is being said but I realize that they have more experience and what I want and desire may not be in the best interest of the team. I realize one person cannot win a state championship and it takes a whole team of champions to win one.
In addition to being coach-able I also like to push my teammates as well as myself. We all need that encouragement and extra push. I found on the field in my junior year that I had the ability to help the team keep up its spirit and keep the pressure on. Even though sometimes I would get frustrated by being shut down I would be sure to cheer on my team mates and keep the energy on. In doing this I found it also gave me more drive and I was able to break free more often and make some big plays. I realize that making big plays also takes a whole team. This is the attitude that I plan to take into my senior year and to the school I hope to play for in college.
Besides playing on the field, I am very studios in the classroom, I know when I understand what is being taught by the teacher and when I should seek further tutoring and help. I also know that I need to challenge myself in academics also because this will be the only way I can achieve my goals. This is why I have been taking honors and college classes. I know I could have skated through high school without having to hardly open a book because that is how school has been for me. But that would have been letting myself down and I wouldn't have been challenging myself. I have to admit though I do have second thoughts about it when I have to stay up late to do homework now.
I am looking forward to my future and the challenges that it holds. I want to see how I can grow and develop to become the man that I know I can be. I know football will help me to continue to grow and learn to develop my character and skills and challenge me to be that man. Thank you for taking you time to read this.
