Derek Kleinman '16 Recruiting Profile

I'm a natural leader on and off the field. I am a two sport varsity captain, for Football and Baseball. I am the co-chair of the Student Athletic Council for my school. I am also a House Captain for the House system at my school. I challenge myself in both the classroom, and on the football field. I have gained the respect of my peers throughout the years, and I have also gained the respect of my coaches and teammates. I'm willing to do anything for my team in order to help them win. I play a tight end-slot receiver hybrid, while also playing almost anywhere on the defense (DB, LB), and I am on all special teams (holder, etc). I do not worry about the numbers I put up; the most important thing to me is my team is successful and we play together. My graduating class holds about 7 out of the 11 starting spots on the team, and we could not be closer as a unit. In the classroom, I challenge myself constantly. I took four out of five possible honors courses as a freshman, three out of five as a sophomore, and now I am taking two out of five as a junior. My hard work in the classroom translates to the field as well. I work out every day of the winter, including 5 am work outs during my baseball season in the spring. In the summer, I go straight from work to football training. My aspirations for my senior year of football are to go undefeated in the regular season, and win my school's first ever state championship for football.
