Personal Statement

It has been 10 years since I began standing on the side-lines with my dad, who was the principal at the time, watching the varsity football players competing on Friday nights for Millard South High School. I set a goal to one day play for that team. I reached my goal of starting at wide receiver for the Patriots and led the team in receiving yards. I was named "Offensive Player of the Year" by my teammates and given the "Patriot Be a Champion" award by the coaches. I received an honorable mention for the All Metro team. My new goal is to continue playing at the collegiate level.

One of my greatest strengths is my willingness to work harder than others and be recognized as a leader on and off the playing field. I understand that I must work hard and be committed to reach my goals. My head coach stated "If everyone we had on the team worked as hard as Keegan has, we'd be undefeated.  We're very proud of him!" and two of my position coaches said "I couldn't be more proud to be his coach. He is a great kid." and "We love how hard he plays and I wish we could have him another year. He has just worked his tail off for us. He is fun to coach because he truly cares."

I am very competitive and winning is important, but is second to my character and academics. Over the past year I have grown physically and matured. My on-the-field strengths are having a high football IQ, the ability to get open, catching the ball in traffic, and playing to the final whistle. I have a good foundation to develop into even a greater leader and football player. I have the height, frame, quickness, and explosiveness to compete at the next level. This offseason I will continue to work on increasing my speed and strength.

I want to earn my degree in athletic training while playing the game I love. If given the opportunity, I guarantee you will get my very best effort and be an asset to your school and team.
