Personal Statement

God-country-school-football

Mountain iron Buhl team Captain

I am a disciplined and coachable player who is not afraid of hard work, coming from behind, or being the underdog.  I come from a small town, I work for the city of Mt. Iron as a skating rink attendant. I have lost 70lbs since my sophomore year of football.  Now I am in my junior year starting at 305 and at the end of season 290. Now I'm 270

I have been raised to understand that my actions reflect on not only myself but my family, school, community, and my team.  My family is what holds me together and they are my biggest fans!  I believe in giving back to my community and helping/volunteering when and where I can.  Most of my volunteer service is with my school (Student Council), Upward Bound which helps in finding the right college and how to finance it, and Iron Range Youth in Action.  I like doing these extra programs because it gets me out there in the public, not only my name but myself, meeting new people and creating a bonds that last a lifetime.  I am also in a club called the Minnesota Patriot Guard, it is a 100% volunteer, registered 501c3 non-profit organization which ensures honor, dignity, and respect at memorial services honoring fallen military hereos, honorable discharged vetrans, and line of duty police, firefighters, and first responders. I am a strong supporter of the military and of those who died supporting our country.  In school I like economics and science classes. I am inspired to pursue a degree in wildlife research. I feel have the skills and personality to be successful in these fields.  I am a great communicator and find it easy to connect with people and make things happen.  I'm a great role model in my community and in my school, all the little kids look up to me literally and figuratively because my nick name is Big D. I got that nick name in 2nd grade from my teacher and it's stuck with me till this day. If you go into our high school or elementary school and ask who is Big D they will give you a nice story or two.  I've been big all my life and I love proving people wrong and breaking the stereotypes.  They have been telling me  I'm way to big and to slow but now I'm proving them wrong!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
