My passion for the game began at an early age when I played Pop Warner flag football at the age of four. One of my early goals was to play for a national championship at that level. My Pop Warner career culminated with a disappointing defeat in the New England Championship game: one win from playing for a national title in Orlando, FL. I used that defeat as a catalyst to get better and compete at he highest level possible.
As a freshman, I beat out three upperclassman to win the starting varsity quarterback job at New Bedford High School. This Division One program has set a strong foundation for my high school career. My transfer to Joseph Case High School the summer before my sophomore year was a challenge for me. Once again I had to enter a school as an unknown player and work for the chance to be the quarterback. By the end of the first week of camp, I was the starting quarterback and chosen as a captain by my teammates who didn't know me yet! It was a great start. I ended the season being awarded the team MVP, All Conference, and Fall River Herald News All Star.
Coaches have said that I am a natural leader and I separate myself from other student athletes with my work ethic. When the season ended on Thanksgiving, I immediately started the off season training program. I organize players-only chalk talk meetings after weight lifting sessions. I want to lead my teammates to a place we only dream of reaching. In late May, I organize captains' practices with my receivers to run routes and condition several times a week. On the weekends, I work with my quarterback coach on my mechanics. This will continue all summer in addition to attending several camps (UMASS Amherst, New England Elite, Holy Cross, Yale University). It is exciting when all of our hard work comes together in August for the official start of the season. As a three sport athlete, playing basketball and baseball too, I am now excited about putting myself in a position to play football at the collegiate level. I am confident that I can strengthen any program with my leadership skills. ?
My goals are to win a state championship with my teammates and to reach the Division One level of play in college. Academically, I am a serious student. I realize my education is the most important ticket to my future. This will provide unlimited opportunities to attend a top academic school and also play college football.
