As a freshman I started on both the Freshman and Junior Varsity Teams as a Fullback and Outside Linebacker. By the end of the season I was also playing Defensive End at the Varsity Level. As a sophomore, my primary starting positions were Tight End as well as Defensive End. I also contributed playing at Fullback, Wing, Slot Receiver, Offensive Tackle, Inside and Outside Linebacker, and was on most of the special team. Due to team injuries, I played “Iron Man Football” along with two other senior players for the last five games of the season. I also take part in Winter and Spring Track. I am one of the top throwers in both discus and shot-put and participate in some sprinting events.
Although I am extremely competitive on the field, the academic environment is just as important to me, if not more. I plan to major in Kinesiology. This will allow me to continue with a career path in the area I love, sports and fitness. I enjoy challenging myself academically by taking honors and AP courses that relate to my major. I’m very committed to my education and haven’t missed school since the start of my highschool career.
I also volunteer my time as a coach to the local Pop Warner League, where I started my football career. Coaching allows me to instill a passion for the game that I love, as well as share my knowledge and experience with children who are eager to learn. Also it allows me to be a more proactive rather than reactive when playing on the field. Finding a college that best matches my academic and athletic needs is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I plan to make the most of this experience.
Respectfully,
Alexander T. Hammond
