My name is Sasha Price and I attend Boulder High School in Boulder, Colorado. I want to go to college, work my butt off getting good grades, and then get a job doing something I enjoy. I don't know for sure what that job is yet but I think it may be serving in the military (if my college grades are good enough I can go to Officer Candidate School to become an officer). I think that serving in the military would be a great way of giving back to my country, developing my leadership skills, seeing the world, and challenging myself. My uncle went through OCS and my dad went to the Naval Academy, and both enjoyed their service and retired from the military.
Oh, and I also want very much to play college football.
I have only been playing football for 2 years but love the sport. I enjoy the hard work. I enjoy being part of a team. I enjoy the many friends I have made playing the sport. I enjoy challenging myself physically and mentally, and I enjoy competing against other players and teams. I hate losing.
I was born in Elista, Russia, and spent my first 4+ years in a Russian orphanage. My parents say this taught me to be VERY competitive and to work very hard. They also say that it gave me a love for being part of a team (imagine growing up in a family with 100 kids and 5 parents).
After Russia I lived in Maryland and now Colorado. I have played sports since I was 5 (mostly soccer and rugby, but also football, wrestling and track).
I try to set an example on all my teams by working harder than anyone else, being respectful to coaches, opponents and officials, showing enthusiasm, and always being positive. I enjoy being a leader: I was captain of my JV wrestling team and co-leader of the varsity wrestling team. I am not the most gifted athlete but I try to make up for this by working harder than anyone else. I have only been working in the weight room for a year and a half but am focused on getting bigger and stronger. I plan to run track again this spring to improve my speed.
I believe that I would be a good candidate for a college team because I am getting better at football every season, I know that I need to work very hard to make up for my lack of experience, I understand the importance of academics, and I have the drive and desire to never quit.
