My parents have always taught me to be respectful, humble and to always earn my keep. Whether in the class room, on the field or at home, I carry those values with me all the time. I know the importance of hard work and commitment and truly believe that is the key to success.
Coming to America from American Samoa in 2008, I never got the opportunity to play tackle football due to my size and weight. Not until my Freshman year in High school where I worked my way into the starting line up at offensive guard. I always knew I had the intangibles to play football but I also realized that the mental aspect of the game was key and that I was behind. Through hard work, drive and dedication, I continue to thrive through my sophomore year, earning a starting position at guard on the JV team.
Off the field, I have a great relationship with all my teachers and coaches. I'm probably the only 16 year old in America that doesn't have a cell phone. My dad said that cell phones are a distraction to my goals in school and on the field. It took me some time to buy into that, but I realized that at the end of the day, its true. My focus is on improving my grades, getting better on the field and stronger in the weight room.
I know that the key is in my hand and only I can determine how far I go in life. I've always worked for everything I have and I'll continue to work relentlessly to my future goals and that is to earn a full scholarship to play football in college and earn my degree.
