Personal Statement

Hello,

My name is Coleman Olivas and I am currently a Junior at Bakersfield High School. The positions I currently play at Bakersfield High: Place Kicker, Field Goal Kicker, Kick-offs, and Punter. I am also on special teams and starting Wide Receiver. In 2011, I received MVP for my Frosh-Soph team which was my first year ever playing football. Growing up coaches commented on my natural athletic ability to try new sports and excel while learning. I excelled in soccer, baseball, basketball, golf, and now football.

My goals and dreams would to attend a college with a great football atmosphere as well as academic program. I plan on attending a D1, D1AA, D2, or D3 level after graduating in 2015 from high school. I would love to get a full ride scholarship on a sport I enjoy playing while earning my Business Communication degree.

I would love to be invited to the U.S. Army Bowl, Under Armour Bowl, as well to make the all-area team from Kern County.

I am self motivated, polite, disciplined, and a hard worker.

I have big dreams and goals for myself and plan on utilizing my talent.

  • AwardsMy 8th grade the teachers at Frutivale Junior High voted for me as the "Top Honors Student" from my school. At graduation I found out I was the winner of all around student, this means when I graduate from high school I will get a check to go towards my college education. The money isn't much but the recognition means more. Frosh-Soph year was my first time ever playing football. I received MVP for 2011-2012 year. My freshman year playing JV basketball I received MVP for the 2011-2012 year as well.
  • Activities2011-2012 Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) I helped the students in the special ed classes with their Junior Olympics program. We helped coach, encourage, and were able help them perform at their sport of choice. I really enjoyed working and getting to know these students, they go to my school and are apart of our student body. I plan on doing this until I graduate. 2012-2013 Random Acts of Kindness (RAC)
